Westech College in Moreno Valley was placed on probation in June by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges. A decision is due in November on whether the school will keep or lose its accreditation.

Westech was singled out in a 2010 report by the Government Accountability Office, which examined claims of unfair practices by private for-profit colleges. Both Westech — which also has Ontario and Victorville campuses — and the Riverside branch of Kaplan College were among those faulted in the report for misleading potential students about educational costs, student loans and employment opportunities.
