The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals may set guidelines for when police officers can use their electronic Taser stun guns in Hawaii and other western states, based on an appeal of a decision by a three-judge panel of the court.

Call the cops for help? Get tasered, get arrested, go to jail. The cops are NOT the friends of the people they "serve".

They have already proven that they are NOT here to "protect" even if it is a catchy logo on the patrol car door.

While I am sure there are many good law enforcement officers on the job, many of the stories in the news these days do cause one to wonder/think twice about getting police involved in situations.

In my own community, one officer is accused of shooting another as they were preparing for their shifts. Both were veteran officers, but if that's the way one chooses to treat another, then you have to wonder what happens to someone suspected of criminal activity.

1.1 - the problem is who the departments are hiring and that is managerial in nature, so until police commissioners crack down on chiefs and see to it that administrations are making good hires, these types of problems will continue.

But complicating matters further for Maui County is the fact that the officer who tased Jayzel Mattos, according to records, is Ryan Aikala. He's a former police officer who had been convicted of third-degree assault and served a couple of weeks in jail in 2003.

Rogue cops are more prevalent than most citizens realize... Perhaps Federal Guidelines would help but, the blue code of lies will still prevail in many cases...

    Good.

Because this guy just moved to Hawaii from NH recently, and if he's hired by any police department again, he'll likely abuse the Taser and kill someone, since he has a strong history of serious hate-related brutality that he was never prosecuted for:

After the fascist cop tasered the women that was 8 months pregnant 3 times because she refused to sign a ticket there definitely needs to be nationwide rules.

He was "within the use of force guidelines".

This is one place that unions have been detrimental to society as a whole. Police Unions "protect" their members to the extreme detriment of the public that pays them.

4.2 - Simply because a law is on paper, does not make it good and moral.

Officers make personal choices and rely on their instincts and reactionary knowledge that was instilled in them during childhood.

And if the officer knows a violent past - so goes the reaction to a minor confrontation. No excuse.

This same 9th Circuit Court ruled for the ticket signing Taser Torture crew. As Dr. Know said....somehow this is within the scope of their "duties". I'm not sure we'll like the guidelines we're likely to see coming from these clowns.
