Waveland police officers started carrying Tasers in 2006 and by late 2008 the Sun Herald was editorially asking: "Why do Waveland police use Tasers more freely than Marines in Iraq?" That question was never answered.

Now, two years later, newly installed Mayor David Garcia has indefinitely taken Tasers out of the hands of his city's police officers.
