Back to the home of William Hung. Not a great thing to recommend the venue!
We start with a long 'feature' on a Puerto Rican with one of the most irritating laughs ever. She also seemed to think it is a beauty pageant. Simon immediately did not like it. She kept interrupting Simon's remark. Kara liked her. Randy did think she was singing the wrong genre. Kara said she 'did not have the vocals' but sent her on anyway. She believes she is the best vocalist. WRONG. Adequate at best. Best "Drama Queen" - top 2 or 3.
Again this week we gets smatterings out of context of what seem to be poor performers with attitudes about their lack of singing skills.
One total idiot thought his coat would get him a pass to Hollywood alone. He thinks loud makes up for lack of singing skill. Randy " over the top torture". Kara "No....no, no.......What was that? What WAS that?"
One had his entire family with him. He begged on behalf of his children to be sent to Hollywood. The first song was judged not to qualify by Simon. Kara and Paula went with the emotional response and Randy was shamed into agreeing.
We get a tease of Kara with a bit of an attitude seemingly with Paula trying to prevent her making the statements she wanted to. "NO, I am going to say what I want to say." We shall see...
We next get a "feature" on a Rubic's Cube expert who thinks falsetto is the answer. Kara "Have you ever sung?" "No..."
We get another tease with Kara butting heads with Simon... (This gets old - FAST)
We get one contestant who refused to let them tell her no. She engaged in all kinds of rationalizing. She must have thought that talking faster would fix things. Paula AND Kara had to personally contact her to get her to leave. "I sing vewy wail" She cannot even TALK very well. At least she knows the difference between "good" and "well" as parts of speech.
We get a short (very short) exposure to a FEW that got the Gold Ticket. NOT ENOUGH Producers!!!
Simon wanted to know if one contestant had had an alcoholic drink. Kara wanted to know if she could get one... I am getting to need one with this poor producing this year.
Next the panel gushes (Simon was a mini-geyser) over a guy who they agreed was "theatrical". Paula even voiced the opinion he was the best 'so far' (We do not know what order the cities were visited). WRONG...
The last audition is another "feel good" story. A son has dedicated his life to caring for his mother. Simon thinks he is a "ship singer". We finally get a bit of testiness between the judges. He has a decent voice. But decent does not win.
*******************************
Once again, we are robbed of seeing the real SINGERS. And again, we do not get to see the real train wrecks. We get a bunch of manufactured crap. One of the things we were 'teased' about Kara and Simon was something AFTER a contestant had left the room.
The video bites of those in front of the Idol Icon really BITE the big one. I do not like a nibble off a cookie and the same goes for singers.
